Terms of service
The conditions of use of the portal, for those who read it and for those who contribute to it.
What the portal offers
AIVA publishes documentation on human anatomical variation. Reading is free and requires no account. An account is needed only by those who wish to propose content, and proposing content additionally requires a professional profile verified by the editorial team.
The portal is under construction. Some features — registration, password recovery, professional verification, the assistant — stay closed when the external services they depend on are not configured, and in that case they say so instead of failing. Reading depends on none of them.
Use of the content
Every article declares its own licence at the foot of the page, and that licence — not these terms — determines what may be done with it. Entries translated from other people’s works carry the licence of the source work: attribution, non-commercial use, same licence on any further derivative.
Licences, attribution and reuse rules
Automated use that impairs the availability of the service is not permitted, nor is the removal of attribution and licence statements from reused content: these are the two conditions whose breach harms readers and authors respectively.
The account
- The account is personal and the details given must be true. Professional verification rests on what the user declares, and that declaration is an act of responsibility, not a formality.
- Credentials must be kept safe: whoever acts through an account is answerable for what happens under it.
- The editorial team may suspend an account, stating its reasons, if the declarations turn out to be untrue or if the use harms the portal or its readers.
Proposing a contribution
Anyone proposing an article warrants that they have the right to publish its content and to distribute it under the declared licence. The text must state its sources, the provenance of anything that is not original, and the mandatory declarations: conflicts of interest, funding, ethical aspects, consent, data availability and any use of artificial-intelligence tools.
The decision to publish rests with the editorial team and is reasoned. Content that turns out to be wrong is corrected or retracted visibly and stays readable: others may have cited it, and making it vanish would render those citations unverifiable.
Limits of the content
The content is published for scientific documentation and teaching purposes. It is not medical advice and does not replace the judgement of a healthcare professional: using it to make decisions about a person is a use the portal neither anticipates nor supports.
Availability of the service
The portal is offered as it is, with no guarantee of continuity: it may be interrupted for maintenance, because of a fault, or because a service it depends on is unavailable. As a project under construction, its features and content may change.
Personal data
How the data of account holders is handled is described in the privacy notice, which is likewise incomplete for the reasons stated above.
Changes and contact
These terms will change: their version and effective date will appear here once the page is completed. Until then they describe how the portal works but have no binding effect. For any question: redazione@example.it.
